Day 1 continued - Fishermans Warf

When we got back from Napa we decided we would ride the trolley down to Fisherman's Warf and eat at Bubba Gump's restaraunt (which is a lot like joes crabshack in taste). It was SOOO cold by the time we got down there we ended up buying tourist jackets to beat some of the cold wind off. Also, the trolley took a LONG time to make it down the hill so we ended up taking a cab back. Surprisingly the cab was $5 dollars more than the trolley was.
Basically the trolley is moved by gravity (going down hill) and when going uphill it catches onto some type of pulley system underneath the road and the driver releases this latch to catch onto that system. When going downhill it goes pretty fast...a little too fast for the people just hanging onto the outside of the trolley.

*We aren't 100% sure this is how the trolley worked but this is what robby and I figured out while riding it*

a view of Lombard street (you can barely see it at the top of the hill)
